Author Services

Not every author knows (or needs to know) how to create their own branding content, edit their own books, create their own website(s), or do or create any other service or product for their business. Most authors either can't, don't have time, don't have the skills to do the task well, or simply don't want to and would rather punt it to a professional who can tinker while they write.

I'm one of those authors who like to do all the things myself, and I am a double threat (boon?) in that I enjoy doing those things for others, as well. Give me your author woes, dear wordsmith, and I will turn them into high praise with my products and services.

Note: As I am just porting my website over to Fourthwall, this page is under construction while I re-do my products and services list. Thank you for your patience!

Fees

Before we get started, let's discuss fees. There are only two fees that will apply to my services: Booking fees and rush fees.

Booking Fee

The booking fee is meant to ensure your booking slot remains open for you. It enables me to keep my schedule tidy, knowing who I'm serving and when. It also offers me a bit of insurance. If, for whatever reason, you are a no-call, no-show, your fee is forfeit to compensate me for the lost income. If, for instance, you contract me for a $900 edit, I am counting on that $900 to make rent and pay bills. With the booking fee, I'm not left completely empty-handed. However, if you keep your appointment, your booking fee is credited back to your final invoice. If you contact me within two weeks of your appointment to cancel, you will receive a full refund.

For edits and web design, booking fees are half up front, with the final half due upon completion.

Again, the booking fee is forfeit if you fail to give a two-week notice of cancellation.

Rush Fee

Rush fees, of course, only apply if you come to me without enough time for me to complete your service to the best of my ability in a time that allows me to have a comfortable workday. The length of time depends on the size of your project, the type of service, and other considerations that might affect the project's optimal completion time.

Rush jobs are discouraged. It is better to push back your deadline than to put out a book whose editing has been rushed. Rushed edits often make for mistakes. Editors are human, and while I will do my level best, longer hours make for shorter focus.

Rush fees are 15% of the full editing cost. This applies to edits and audiobook proofing.
